IndexNow

A ping that tells search engines a URL has changed, instead of waiting for the next crawl. One request, one shared key file.

You publish a key as a text file at a known path, then send the URL and the key when something changes. Bing, Yandex, Seznam and Naver share the same submission; Google does not participate.

It does not make a page rank, and it does not replace a sitemap. What it changes is the delay between publishing and being crawled, which matters most for news that is only interesting for a day.
