ChatGPT Voice can now use plugins and run Work tasks on the web and on phones
OpenAI changed two things in ChatGPT Voice on September 23, 2026. The Live voice mode can now call the plugins and connected apps on your account, on the web, iOS, and Android. Voice also works inside Work, where it can build documents, presentations, and spreadsheets or operate a browser. Approvals still happen on screen, because spoken approval is not supported.
OpenAI announced in its ChatGPT release notes on September 23, 2026 that Live, the newest voice mode, now supports plugins. The same entry brings Voice into Work on the web and on mobile. Until now, a spoken conversation could search and remember, but it could not act through the apps connected to your account.
What Live can do now
During a Live conversation you can ask ChatGPT to use any plugin or connected app available to your account. You may first need to connect the app and sign in, and existing app permissions and workspace restrictions still apply. The written response appears in the chat while you talk.
Free and Go users get Voice in Chat with the plugins their plan supports. Live still does not support video or screen sharing. For those, OpenAI points iOS and Android users to the older Advanced mode.
Voice inside Work
Work is the part of ChatGPT that carries out longer tasks. With Voice, you can ask it to create documents, presentations, and spreadsheets, use connected apps, or work in a browser. When you end the call, a task that is still running continues in text. Voice in Work requires both Voice access and Work access on your plan.
Approvals, limits, and recordings
OpenAI's help page lists the conditions that come with the feature.
- An action that needs your approval is shown on screen, where you approve or decline it. Spoken approval is not supported.
- Live usage in Chat is measured over a rolling 24-hour window. Go gets 3 hours of GPT-Live-1 mini and Plus gets 3 hours of GPT-Live-1. The $100 Pro plan gets 15 hours, and the $200 Pro plan has no cap.
- Voice in Work follows the plan's Voice limits, and the tasks also count toward normal Work usage.
- Audio clips from Live and Advanced conversations are kept with the transcript for 30 days. Deleting a chat removes its clips within 30 days, with the exceptions listed in OpenAI's privacy policy.

Anthropic's OSS Scanner sends open-source maintainers free vulnerability reports that no human has reviewed
Anthropic launched OSS Scanner on October 8, 2026, an opt-in service that scans eligible open-source projects with its strongest models, including Claude Mythos, at no cost. Each report includes a reproducer, an explanation, and a candidate patch when one exists, but no person checks it before it is sent. Anthropic says it expects more than 90% of findings to be real.
