Google put its Nano Banana image editor into Docs and Slides and named it Google Pics

Google Pics is a standalone image creation and editing tool built on the Nano Banana model, and the same controls are being wired into Workspace apps. The integration begins with Docs and Slides on September 1, 2026, and reaches Drive in the coming weeks. Access arrives with a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription and with most Workspace business plans, rolling out over the coming weeks. Google publishes no quota, no separate price, and no list of supported languages.

Google announced Google Pics on September 1, 2026, an image creation and editing tool running on the company's Nano Banana image generation and editing model. It is a product of its own, reachable at pics.new, and at the same time a set of controls that appear inside Workspace apps. Docs and Slides get it first and Drive follows in the coming weeks, so an image no longer has to leave the document it belongs to before it can be changed.

What the editor actually does

The published feature list is about changing an existing image rather than conjuring a new one from nothing, which is the part generic image tools handle worst. Object segmentation isolates one element so it can be transformed while the rest of the picture stays as it was. Text comments can be attached to specific areas of the image, and several edits can be requested in one go.

Text inside an image can be modified or translated without disrupting the design or changing the font, which is the difference between reworking a poster and rebuilding it. A single prompt returns several generations, so the choice is made among options rather than by running the prompt again.

  • Object segmentation isolates and transforms one element without altering the rest of the image.
  • Text comments point at a specific area, and multiple edits execute at once.
  • In-image text editing and translation leave the design and the font intact.
  • A shared Pics creation can be edited by several people together.

Who gets it, and when

Access is attached to a subscription rather than sold on its own. Google says Pics is rolling out over the coming weeks to all Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers and to most Workspace business customers. The word most is Google's, and the post does not name which business plans fall outside it.

The Workspace integration starts on September 1, 2026 in Docs and Slides, and reaches Drive in the coming weeks. Google sets this against its own statement that millions of users work with billions of images across Workspace products every month, a figure it publishes without a source.

What the announcement leaves out

No quota is published: no number of images per day, per month, or per subscription tier. No separate price is stated, and there is no word on which countries or interface languages are covered at launch. For anyone planning to lean on this in real work, those are the numbers that decide whether it fits.

In-image translation is where the gap matters most. Translating text inside a graphic is a language-coverage question before it is an editing question, and the announcement names no languages at all. This suggests the capability is arriving ahead of its documentation rather than alongside it.

ChatGPT adds virtual try-on for clothes and keeps your reference photo for later

OpenAI added two shopping features to ChatGPT on October 1, 2026. A Try on button on listings for clothes and accessories generates an image of the item on you from a selfie. The selfie is saved as a reference photo for future try-ons until you change or delete it in settings. A second feature, Favorites, saves products to your ChatGPT Library.

Gemini 3.8 Live can now answer as a talking video avatar, and Google bills the video only while it speaks

Google made Gemini 3.8 Live with Live Avatar generally available in Gemini Enterprise on September 24, 2026, with US and EU endpoints. The model replies through a lip-synced video character while it listens, watches a camera or a shared screen, and calls tools in the background. Avatar video costs $1 per million tokens at 6,192 tokens for each second of speech. By our arithmetic, that comes to about $0.37 per spoken minute before audio, input, and context charges.
