ChatGPT moves every tier to GPT-6 and starts answering with interactive charts, forms, and tools

OpenAI began rolling out GPT-6 with a feature called Intelligent UI to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise on October 7, 2026, and extends it to the Free and Go tiers from October 8, 2026. Instead of a block of text, a response can now contain tappable buttons, forms, charts, and small interactive tools that the model composes while it writes. Paid tiers run on GPT-6 Sol and free tiers on GPT-6 Luna; the models behind Work and Codex do not change.

Shopify launches Canvas, where merchants build a store theme by chatting with Sidekick

Shopify announced Canvas on October 1, 2026. It is a workspace that shows every page of an online store side by side and lets Sidekick, the company's AI agent, build or change the theme from a description. Shopify says Canvas renders the store's real code, not a static preview. The Help Center lists it as early access for certain stores, on desktop only, and only for Shopify's own themes and custom themes. A theme edited in Canvas stops receiving theme updates and cannot be downloaded, which matters if you build or maintain themes for clients.

Google put its Nano Banana image editor into Docs and Slides and named it Google Pics

Google Pics is a standalone image creation and editing tool built on the Nano Banana model, and the same controls are being wired into Workspace apps. The integration begins with Docs and Slides on September 1, 2026, and reaches Drive in the coming weeks. Access arrives with a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription and with most Workspace business plans, rolling out over the coming weeks. Google publishes no quota, no separate price, and no list of supported languages.

A class prefix selector is now spec text in Selectors Level 5

The draft of August 18 adds section 2.1, Class Prefix Selectors, defining .foo-* to match any class beginning with that prefix. It replaces the attribute-selector workarounds every design system carries. Nothing implements it yet, and the matching rule has an edge that will catch people: .foo-* does not match foo--bar.
