Anthropic opens a portal for submitting plugins to the Claude directory

Anthropic opened a submission portal for the Claude directory on September 25, 2026. Developers on paid Claude plans can submit a single MCP connector or a plugin bundle, follow its review, and see usage data once it is live. Existing listings need no changes.

Build plugins for Claude

Claude Blog · Original published September 25, 2026

Plugins package MCP connectors, Agent Skills, or both, and Anthropic now calls them the main way third parties extend Claude. Until this portal, developers had no self-service route into the directory that Claude users browse.

Two ways to submit

The portal accepts two kinds of submission:

  • a single MCP connector, submitted by pointing the portal at your remote MCP server;
  • a plugin bundle that combines MCP servers and skills, hosted in a GitHub repository that you submit; in Claude Code, a plugin can also include LSP servers, commands, hooks, and agents.

Review and analytics

Each submission is validated and safety-scanned as soon as it arrives. The portal shows where the plugin is in review, what the scan found, and which changes Anthropic recommends. After approval, you choose when the plugin goes live.

Once published, the portal reports installs by product surface and by version. It also shows how often the listing is viewed and which searches lead people to it.

What Claude supports on the MCP side

Anthropic says Claude supports the latest MCP specification, commonly called MCP 2.0, which has a stateless core. It names two extensions a plugin can use: MCP Apps, for interactive interface inside a chat, and Enterprise Managed Auth, for OAuth that enterprise users do not have to set up themselves.

What happens to existing listings

Skills, connectors, and plugins already in the directory need no changes. Over the coming weeks, Claude and Claude Code will share one place to discover plugins, and Anthropic says developers will later be able to turn a connector listing into a plugin.

ChatGPT plugins can now run as sidebar apps and react to events from connected tools

OpenAI opened the interface layer it uses for its own ChatGPT features to outside developers. A plugin can now claim a place in the sidebar, open a panel beside a conversation, and act as the viewer for its own file types. A separate MCP Events integration lets a plugin start an automation when something happens in a connected app, which requires MCP 2.0 and webhook delivery. Sign in with ChatGPT lets a Plus or Pro allowance be spent in 16 partner tools.
